Our Story

ELOSCN (Edinburgh and Lothians Out of School Care Network) was established in 2003 to provide Out of School Care services to communities. Recognising the need to provide quality, affordable childcare for families with children of school age, ELOSCN currently operates ten Breakfast and After School Clubs providing parents with flexible childcare support and the children with a fun and nurturing experience outside school.

Our Breakfast and After School Clubs operate primarily on primary school premises with operating hours ranging from 7:30 to 17:45 across our Club Network. Working in partnership with each of the primary schools, our qualified staff ensure that each child is safely handed over to the school at the start of the day, and received in the same manner at the end of the school day.

Breakfast Club is a great way to start the day. Not only do the children get a chance to play with their friends, they also get an opportunity to have breakfast and brush their teeth.

If it is nice outside, the staff will put away the Lego, pens and paper and the children will go outside for some fun in the fresh air!

At the Afterschool Club, the children drop off their bags and coats from school and wash their hands in preparation for snack time which is a combination of fruit and vegetables along with waffles, hot dogs, pasta or soup and bread. Helped by P6s and 7s, the children sit in a group and share their stories from the day (or weekend) and choose their activity for the following week. Then they decide whether they will proceed in doing the activity they had pre-selected such as arts and crafts, outdoor or indoor fun concluding in “pick-up” time and getting ready to go home.

At ELOSCN, we want to be known as much more than just a childcare provider. Consider us “A family for your Family when you’re not there” and to provide your children with a magical experience, one which they cannot wait to tell you about at the end of the day!

We take “Pride in Our Practice” by bringing to life our PRIDE Company Values with everyone we come in contact with. Not only do we hold each other accountable to these values, we work with every child to build their awareness of our values and recognise them with PRIDE Stickers when they have demonstrated these values with their friends, teachers and even family members at home!

Our Values

protect-icon

Protect:

Job one is to offer your child an environment in which they are safe and protected. We ask our staff to be Brand Ambassadors and protect the ELOSCN brand by offering a first-class service to our stakeholders, namely our parents. We ask our children to protect one another, by building awareness around safety and looking out for each other.

respect-icon

Respect:

Treating others as you would like to be treated is an important life lesson and we do this by instilling Respect into everything we do. Staff and children are expected to be respectful, and in return, be treated respectfully. Everyone has a voice in ELOSCN and if anyone, of any age, is not feeling respected – they can use the Respect value to let us know!

inspire-icon

Inspire:

We believe that what we do can really make a difference in people’s lives by inspiring our children, and our staff, to be the very best that they can be. We aspire to be the Club that your children can’t wait to come back to, an Employer of Choice for our Staff and a Club that you are proud to have your children placed into.

develop-icon

Develop:

Through exciting and fun indoor and outdoor activities, we have the opportunity to help build the self-confidence, self-belief and social skills of our children. But this doesn’t stop with our children. Our staff are also offered the opportunity to further develop their skills through the ELOSCN Training and Development programme.

quality

Experience:

We judge ourselves on what people say about their experience with us. What will your child say to you at the end of the day? What will you say to your friends about the way we made you feel? What will our staff say about their experience as an ELOSCN employee? What will the Care Inspectorate say about us?

By bringing the ELOSCN Values to life, we believe that we have the opportunity to make a real difference is the lives of our children, parents, staff and stakeholders by demonstrating “PRIDE in Our Practice” in everything we do.
